Massive Catch!

Bryotropha domestica.

Any ideas? Help Welcome...

Epinotia nisella

Scalloped Oak
The best night of the year and my second best ever.

Totals boosted by hundreds of grass moths. Good garden records included Scalloped Oak, Dark Spinach, another True Lovers Knot and micro's 1138 Epinotia nisella (form decorana according to Manley) and new for me 0789 Bryotropha domestica, a first for VC68. Unless Tom tells me different...

Packed into the trap were 624 moths of 83sp.

I also have an unidentified Epinotia type...

  1. I reckon your tort is Celypha cespitana.

    239 tristella - outrageous!

  2. Ho ho get in there, 4th county record and not even a pic on our website! Cheers Mark. I looked at the variable images on UK Moths and I am sure you are indeed correct.
