01/04/12 Another surprise new species...

A raggy arsed Oak Nycteoline.
6 degree min with full cloud cover.

VC 68's third record of Oak Nycteoline was a new species for me, in a very reasonable catch.. A very localised species in Northumberland.

  1. Most Nycteolines are a bit tatty in the spring Stewart, though cut it some slack - it has survived a Northumberland winter without a coat!

  5. Hi Ben, its not that they are overlooked, its just that there are so few people who trap in Northumberland, they are genuinely scarce. Only about 15 - 20 people do any trapping at all, and only 12 - 15 of those submit regular records! So, its relatively easy to get good county records...
