Prickly subject...

No trapping this week, but last night a Feathered Thorn was on our bathroom window. Nice. Although it is wet and breezy, it is mild so the trap is on tonight. Not that I expect much. All I have left to get is Mottled Umber and Winter Moth, unless there is a suprise in store...

  1. Never say never - no Scarce Umber up your way?
My traps are out tonight - very mild but howling wind. I'd be very pleased indeed with a Mottled Umber.

  2. Oh yes Mark I forgot about Scarce Umber. I've never had one, but they aren't uncommon up here. One to watch out for....I had a few Mottled Umber last autumn...

  3. Just checked my traps - nothing so far. In fact it is so bloody windy I'm wondering whether I'm more likely to be faced with a wreck of shearwaters in the morning than any moths ...

  4. I caught a Mottled Umber in January and it's the only one I've caught so far.......as for moths yet to catch; Sprawler, Scarce Umber and December Moth, all of which I had last year. I think I'll be lucky if I get them all again.
